Folders for Claude ("the extension") is a browser extension that lets you organize your conversations on claude.ai into folders. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.
By default, the extension works entirely on your own device. Your folders, the assignment of chats to folders, chat titles, and the ordering you set are stored locally in your browser (using IndexedDB). This information never leaves your device unless you explicitly turn on Sync.
Sync is optional and off by default. If you create an account (with an email address and a password) and enable Sync, your folder data is encrypted on your own device before it is sent anywhere. Encryption uses AES-GCM with a key derived from your password, which means the data is end-to-end encrypted: it is stored on our backend only as encrypted text that we cannot read or decrypt.
The only purpose of this is to let you use the same folders across your own devices.
We do not store your password in readable form. Authentication is handled by our backend provider (see below).
When Sync is enabled, account and encrypted data are stored using Supabase, hosted in the European Union. Supabase acts only as our hosting and authentication provider. Their privacy information is available at supabase.com/privacy.
Local data is removed when you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data. If you created a Sync account, you can request deletion of your account and the encrypted data stored for it by contacting us at the address below.
Because your data is end-to-end encrypted with a key derived from your password, we cannot recover your encrypted folder data if you forget your password.
